Cranberry Sauce

A quick recipe for a healthier cranberry sauce

'Christmas is coming', so the TV ads keep telling us anyway, and it's the one time of year where it's definitely ok to over indulge a little. That said...we've been looking at some of the traditional Christmas foods and drinks we love and discovered a few take 'over indulging' to an unnecessary level. 

First up, Cranberry Sauce. We were a little shocked when we looked into this and found that the number one ingredient on a few brands was sugar. Try and make your own for a healthier and, in our opinion, tastier option.

Place a big bag, or two, of cranberries in a pan with some finely chopped apples, the juice and zest of an orange, a little water (and some pineapple juice if you fancy it) and Total Sweet Xylitol, to your preferred level of sweetness. Heat and bring to the boil, stirring constantly, until the cranberries start to burst. Add a little more water if necessary, lower the heat and leave to simmer until you have the perfect consistency. Allow to cool fully and place in the fridge to chill.
